Appropriately, it’s a resurrection with a specific death date attached-the series is getting just one more season to wrap up the story. On Saturday, August 28 (aka 828, just to add some *extra* significance to the announcement), Netflix made it offish and confirmed that the rumors are true and Manifest is indeed being resurrected for a fourth season. Now Manifest *is* coming back for season 4, though, so let’s talk details. Since both sides have a history of making these kinds of deals, the #SaveManifest campaign had real hope. Netflix also revived FOX’s Lucifer after it was canceled, which Warner Bros. So much Netflix fan love for the show rained in, which likely played a role in a plan to revive Manifest. TV (aka the show’s production studio) was said to be finalizing negotiations with Netflix to get a season 4 in order, according to Deadline. Okay, so, explain the saga of season 4, plz.Īfter Manifest’s cancellation at NBC, fans (and the cast and crew of the show) rallied, which, combined with continuously strong viewership numbers on Netflix, worked together to increase the show’s chances of renewal. It was also surprising for some newer fans since the show was at the top of the Netflix Top 10 as more people binged the series for the first time.

The move was actually a last-minute decision for the network because cast contracts were set to expire the next day. Manifest season 3 went a long way toward fixing Jared, so it would have a been a disappointment if season 4 went backwards with not only Michaela’s character growth, but also his own.Warner Brothers NBC Universal Wait, I thought Manifest was canceled? His investigation into the Major’s death gave him a story that didn’t focus on his feelings for Michaela – and that’s exactly what his character really needed to move forward. Adding Zeke to the mix moved Michaela in a new, positive direction.Īs for Jared, it took some time for him to get on with his life, but after a while, it looked like Manifest was finally ready to do something different with the character. Plus, Jared cheating on his wife with Michaela made it difficult for viewers to sympathize with either character. After all, the forbidden romance element of their story felt tiresome in season 1. Jared’s relationship with her best friend, desperate measures to get Michaela back, and jealousy-motivated vendetta against Zeke made it feel like Manifest was making the right call in having Michaela move on from Jared and find someone else.

Ultimately, she and Zeke got married and were living together happily in season 3. Jared’s actions against Zeke and refusal to let go quickly made it clear that he wasn’t going to be the one Michaela chose. By taking steps to prove that Zeke was bad for Michaela, Jared went too far and only succeeded in alienating her. While helping him navigate through the Callings, Michaela grew closer to Zeke, much to the chagrin of Jared, who quickly became jealous of their relationship. Their lingering feelings for each other served as a major subplot through season 1, but this took a turn when Manifest gave her a new love interest in Matt Long’s Zeke.


Michaela was devastated, but she didn’t completely get over Jared right away. When she returned, she discovered that Jared was married to her best friend. Manifest season 1 began with Michaela in love with Jared, who was her boyfriend when the plane disappeared. A tease in the Manifestseason 3 finale indicates that the show was about to revisit the love triangle between Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh), Jared (J.R.
